Puzzle# 28 Brainteaser NYC A to Z: Famous New Yorkers

December 18, 2009

This week we have a brainteaser:  Using the names of famous new Yorkers, can you use every letter in the alphabet in as few letters as possible?  I have been able to go through the alphabet in five names that total 56 letters amongst them.  Can you do it in 55 letters or less?  If you can do it in less than five names, all the better.  Anyone should feel free to use the comments section of this post for better solutions.  For this puzzle, the term Famous New Yorker will be anyone well-known who was either born in the Big Apple or made their mark here.  I’ll post my list Monday.  Happy Puzzling!

Puzzle#15 Brainteaser: A,E,I,O,U and Screw You Y

August 14, 2009

So technical issues still abound (I will neither deny nor confirm the fact that I am posting this from my work computer while I am at lunch), so I am putting forth a little snack of a puzzle this week.  Brilliant stratagem to combat my woes this week or yellow bellied cop out?  You decide.

Anywho, here’s this weeks headscratcher:  Name five things/places/persons associated with the five boroughs of NYC, one from each borough, that contain all five vowels only once.  For example, the Rose Hill Campus of Fordham University contains all five vowels with no repeats.  You can use a place or structure’s colloquial name for this puzzle.  So can you get one for each borough (there is at least one more for the Bronx)?  Happy Puzzling!
